What we do

Value to Our Businesses

Collaborative Events

Collaborative Events

Many of the great events that take place on the boulevard benefit multiple businesses. The Hawthorne Street Fair brings thousands of visitors that visit the businesses within walking distance of the event. The HBBA will now provide support for events that follow this model. We will work with business owners on every part of Hawthorne to establish and market collaborative events.

Conduit of Information

Conduit of Information

The HBBA is actively involved with organizations such as Venture Portland, community groups, other business associations and city government agencies. The HBBA provides a two way flow of information to Hawthorne businesses.

Advocate for Businesses

We are committed to help create a positive environment for Hawthorne businesses to thrive. The HBBA works with vendors to understand their needs and advocates for changes and services so they can focus on managing their business.

Stewardship of Hawthorne

Portland is growing. This creates opportunities for change and improvement. It is important to welcome change while working to protect the qualities of Portland that make it unique and special. The HBBA participates in efforts to guide the design of new development to work with the existing aesthetic of the Hawthorne community.

Best Practices

Best Practices

The HBBA is a central source for helping businesses solve problems. If you have a challenge, it is possible that others have found a solution.

Community Marketing

Hawthorne businesses work hard to communicate with their customers using websites and social media. The HBBA partners with businesses to help communicate events. Visitors to the HBBA website will see a list of all Hawthorne events. We will coordinate marketing efforts with members to help amplify their message.

Safety and Security

The HBBA continues to focus on creating a comfortable environment for our visitors. We have a monthly update with the Portland Police Department to get updates on activities that might affect Hawthorne. It also provides a communication channel for us to highlight issues and concerns to the PPD to help with their response.
